Affiliate Marketing On Facebook - What Are The Options?
I had already looked at some of the possibilities for affiliates on Facebook. This post is intended to shed some light on the topic and show you which monetization approaches for publishers in affiliate marketing can be found on Facebook.

One way to be active as an affiliate on Facebook is to build your own community. Here, Facebook pages on specific topics are created, filled with regular content and further developed. Pages with emotional, bizarre and funny topics certainly offer great potential, especially to accelerate organic reach through sharing, interaction through comments and the growth of "likes". Another possibility to use a Facebook page for affiliate projects is to use it to build up an additional traffic channel. This traffic should convert particularly well, as the people made a conscious decision to link to the Facebook page belonging to the website: They see added value in the topic of the project and in what is posted on Facebook. The step to ordering via your own affiliate page is not far. However, building such a community is very time-consuming. These have an enormous reach on Facebook and always refer users to their own portal for great offers - and from there to the merchant's page. They even differentiate according to topics and have set up separate Facebook communities for different areas, e.g. sports, fashion or entertainment. This increases the relevance of the information on these topic-specific Facebook pages for the corresponding users, which also increases the success of the measures.

In addition to the classic content pages, advertising has always been a hot affair for affiliates: banner booking, Adwords, Bing, Yahoo, display via Postview, retargeting and co, etc. The model can also be used accordingly on Facebook. The basic principle is simple: Affiliates place Facebook ads for the merchant and pay for them (CPC, CPM, oCPM, etc.). If sales are generated through it, the affiliate receives a commission. The difference between commission (income) and advertising expenses is the affiliate's profit.
This model is currently rarely found on Facebook. The reason is that the advertising costs for affiliates usually cannot be compensated by the commissions, because:

the commission from low-priced products is too low
Facebook advertising is more like display campaigns than transaction-based Adwords ads, and so the road to conversion can be long.
At the same time, not all merchants allow ads to be placed in social networks, or direct linking is prohibited, so that the path to conversion becomes even longer.
If you want to use this model for your own project, you need a very sharp (low CPC) target group, topics that convert well (close to buying) and at the same time products that promise a high commission (expensive products, products with high commission values). Then this model can also work.
Facebook Profile
Your own Facebook profile could also be used for affiliate marketing. On the one hand, of course, by building a high reach (many friends) and giving my friends appropriate product recommendations, just like on Facebook pages. This could be promising through the personal relationship (“friends”). But hand on heart: if one of my friends were constantly posting products, it would be more spam.
Therefore a second idea: You could also post suitable affiliate links in discussions, groups or on pin boards on pages if a correspondingly large reach and topic reference can be assumed there. That sounds like spam and can quickly slide in this direction, but then it does not help.Corresponding postings should therefore make sense, enrich the discussion and offer users added value.

These are two examples that are obvious. With a little creativity, you can certainly find more starting points. You should of course move within the framework of the affiliate program guidelines and within the legal framework and, for example, do not forget to add an imprint to your profile, as you are doing business with it.
